Jasmine Yang
Welcome! I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Marketing division of Columbia Business School.
My research focuses on combining machine learning, statistical/econometric methods and insights from behavioral science to tackle important questions in the domain of digital markets and creator economy. This is a fascinating area where the understanding of the incentives and behaviors of different agents (e.g., viewers, creators, advertisers, platforms and regulators) requires both new types of data and careful analyses. With a problem rather than methodology driven approach to research, my work demonstrates how one can integrate diverse methodologies to uncover important domain insights and facilitate better managerial decision support.
My dissertation was honored at the ISMS Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Competition and ASA Marketing Section Doctoral Dissertation Research Award Competition.
I hold a M.Sc. in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics at the London School of Economics (LSE), and a B.Sc. in Combined Mathematics and Economics from University of British Columbia.
I will work in the Core Data Science Team at Meta as a Research Scientist for one year in New York. In the Summer of 2026, I will be joining the Chinese University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor of Marketing.
